Comparing .300 Blackout Supersonic Vs Subsonic.
.300 BLACKOUT AMMO is a very popular round and its popularity has increased in the last decade or so. Both its supersonic and subsonic variants of this are equally popular. supersonic are traditional round which breaks the sound barrier and gives a small sonic crack. Supersonic are not just traditional but are also used more for the simple reason that the faster the bullet travels better it is as it has more energy and less wind drift, also has more range and is less expensive.
The
same is true for supersonic .300 blackout. subsonic .300 blackouts are heavier
than supersonic ones, it is the weight that stops them from breaking the sound
barrier, subsonic also gives lighter recoil. For example, 220 gr .300 blackouts
are quit. Subsonic Ammo is
known for lower recoil .300 blackout subsonic ammo is hearing safe
and operator friendly, there are reports that in certain operations they are
really useful, where guys in the adjacent rooms could not hear the sound of it
being used in another room.
This
subsonic variant is useful in certain conditions such as combat operation,
self-defence and close range but as far as hunting is concerned, especially
long range big game hunting they are not ideal. for big game hunting from long
range supersonic .300, blackout
ammo should
be the choice. Although for close range pig hunting subsonic is the ideal
choice as you can hit back to back shots at a faster rate. as far as comparing
the two variants is concerned and stating which is better, well supersonic is
better than subsonic in most areas but one i.e. if you want a silent kill then
you can use subsonic .300 Blackout Ammo.
although supersonic .300 can be suppressed that is not the ideal way, it is better
to use the subsonic variant. .300 blackout subsonic can be the quietest round
when fired through a closed breech firearm like a bolt action or single shot
rifle. Also, it depends on the user and what sort of use he has, if he wants to
shoot quickly and quietly then subsonic .300 but if you want to shoot flat with
appropriate ballistic energy then supersonic has to be the choice.
Talking
of price then subsonic is expensive and supersonic are cheaper as compared to
them and for this reason, also they are more used in target practising, hunting
etc.
